  10.  AB    OBJECTIVE: To study the serological reactivity of samples collected from
  11.        7 HIV1 subtype O infected patients PATIENTS-METHOD: 7 patients
  12.        (CDCII-III n = 3, CDC IV n = 4) originally from Cameroon were
  13.        hospitalised in Paris, France. HIV1 subtype O infection was diagnosed by
  14.        using PCR specific subtype O primers and serological reactivity on
  15.        specific Env subtype peptides. Sequential samples were tested on
  16.        different HIV1-2 EIA and rapid tests based on different antigens and
  17.        conjugate principles. RESULTS: Discordant results were observed
  18.        according to the antigen or to the conjugate used in the test. All the
  19.        samples were strongly reactive in EIA based on whole virus or
  20.        recombinant antigens with indirect conjugate fixation as shown in the
  21.        table. CONCLUSION: Screening test for HIV antibodies based on Env
  22.        peptides or the sandwich method could lack sensitivity in the case of
